Paul Smith - Menswear & Womenswear collection Autumn/Winter 2017/18 in Paris ( with interview )

Designer : Paul SmithCollection : Paul Smith presents the Men’s and Women’s collections at the same time, in one fashion show in Paris. This time in the Beaux- Arts building, where he used to show ten years ago.Silhouette : The men and the women walk as a duo, responding with a proposition of suits realized in typical English textures like tartan. Paul Smith was also revisiting the craftsmen with whom he had worked in his early days. The tones are found such as a bright red or different blues. The rock spirit resounds with a studded perfecto jacket, romanticism is never far away with the floral prints or the tunics or apron dresses on the women’s side.To note : the velvet and the trench jacket, the big trends of the season, are only one at Sir Paul Smith’s. Interview with Paul Smith : It’s a men’s and women’s together, the first one, so that’s nice, so very interesting to see what the result will be, so we’ve used a lot of the same feeling, or same fabrics, same designs for both men and women, so I think seeing them together will be quite interesting actually.Very English fabrics, at the beginning of my career, a lot of the fabrics u could find were only the very traditional English fabrics but they were really heavy, now they’re maybe half the weight that they used to be, but it seemed to me that so many of the designers are using navy blue and black and every price level can use these navy blues and blacks so it just felt the right time to me to have a British collection again. So I’ve been working with the mills that I used to work with many years ago, and I think it looks very modern because its lighter and you can wear it with trainers, the main thing is to look at the styling, if you put them with a heavy shoe on a classic shirt and tie it looks like a traditional line, and the way you mix it, suddenly it looks very modern.Music from the show (only to be used in the context of the show, protected by the right to information.)
