Marni: Men's shows Spring/Summer 2019 (with interview)

Artistic Director: Francesco RissoLocation: the designer deserts his old usual space for the basement of a Milanese garage. By way of seats, huge balloons are placed on the floor. Collection: a joyous wardrobe for millenials keen on sportswear and relaxed pieces. The silhouette is loose, composed of Bermuda shorts and supple trousers, layering of t-shirts, shirts colours and prints. No constraining suits but jackets and trousers in comforting proportions. Focus: on the striped mohair vest tops, on the zipped polos… checks and stripes follow one another at high speed and blend with photographs of the works of Florian Hetz and Betsy Podlach’s artistic work. To note: the numerous references to sports such as base-ball, cricket, tennis or boxing + the sponge XL beach bag Interview: Very, very good energy, I’m so happy because it’s a lot of my ‘eighties’, the years that I love so much, because that was the moment where really I started, also to do things on the market, and I think this collection is very nice also, it’s more close to reality, more sportswear, because people now want to be easy, comfortable, sportswear you know, that’s great, I’m so happy. This has come from the attitude of the young designer that they see the world with the modernity, with the freshness, and so they put together maybe colours, and fabrics, yarns, different than they were using before, it’s the modernity of the new generation and that’s great, that’s fantastic that this is why fashion world is going on.
