Originally from madrid, sybilla, the worthy heir of cristobal balenciaga, with her pure and architected vision of clothing, found success in the 80’s/90’s finally to sell her brand and disappeared in the 2000s. passionate about the cut and fabric, she redeems her name and decides to propose a fashion that resembles her through simple, transformable and delicate clothes, to fitted cuts in multiple precious details, which she now offers in ephemeral shops in all cities of the world or made to measure in her own workshop in madrid.from now until october 25th, the temporary sybilla boutique in new york.interview from sybilla sorondo:i left because i didn’t feel like i could keep following the fashion game as it was, but i never stopped making clothes, i love doing that. we’ve appeared as if a bit like aliens from another planet, with i think, a different way of doing things.my clothes are very worked but at the same time there’s an ease about them, they are very easy to wear. i said i wanted to make clothes that portray strength, joy, and are pleasurable. i work a lot with the idea of pleasure for the clothes, creating a feeling of protection that makes you shine. i’ve got the feeling that now lots of people haven’t got the time to work on how a garment falls or to research patronage, nursing the tiny details, little confection things. also i am looking to work with small fabric factories that are about to disappear, in order to do a bit of research there as well. music free from the right / bandit &nikit 2015
